About the Role
As Business Development Manager, you build and grow Infinite Orbits Germany’s customer base in the German and European defense and institutional space sector. You develop relationships with the Bundeswehr and its procurement organizations, the German Space Agency at DLR, ESA, European institutions, and industrial prime contractors and partners, and you take opportunities from first contact through to signed contract.
Proposals are central to your success: you own the capture strategy, win strategy, pricing, and contractual terms of every bid. You work closely with the Proposal & Project Manager, who runs the proposal process, and with the Mission Systems Engineer, through to submission and negotiation.
As part of the founding team, you shape from day one how Infinite Orbits Germany positions itself with customers and partners.
Job Description
Pipeline ownership: Identify, qualify, and track opportunities with defense, institutional, and commercial customers; own the German sales pipeline, forecast, and CRM.
Customer & stakeholder relationships: Build and maintain trusted relationships with decision-makers and requirement owners at the Bundeswehr and its procurement organizations, the German Space Agency at DLR, ESA, European institutions, and industrial prime contractors.
Capture management: Shape opportunities long before formal tenders: understand customer needs and budgets, influence requirements through RFI responses and early engagement, and prepare bid/no-bid decisions.
Bid leadership: Own win strategy, pricing, commercial and contractual terms, and teaming agreements; contribute to the proposal reviews led by the Proposal & Project Manager; lead clarification rounds and contract negotiations.
Partnerships & teaming: Build partnerships and consortia with German industry, SMEs, and research institutions for joint bids and programs.
Procurement & funding programs: Monitor national and European procurement and funding instruments in space and defense and qualify opportunities, working closely with the R&D and Innovation Managers.
Market intelligence: Analyze customer programs, budgets, competitors, and the partner landscape, and feed insights into product positioning and the Group’s offering.
Representation: Represent Infinite Orbits at trade fairs, conferences, customer days, and in industry associations.
Group coordination: Align with Business Development and Sales across the Infinite Orbits Group on account strategy, bids, and pricing to ensure a consistent customer approach.

Experience in customer-facing roles, with bids, or with public programs is a plus.
An established network in the German defense and space environment (Bundeswehr, procurement organizations, DLR, industry) is a strong plus.
Skills & Other Requirements
Solid understanding of German and European procurement procedures in space and defense.
Sufficient technical understanding of space systems to discuss in-orbit servicing and RPO solutions credibly with customers.
Commercial acumen and confident negotiation skills with customers and partners.

Fluent in German and English.
Willingness to undergo a German security clearance procedure (Sicherheitsüberprüfung).
Frequent travel required within Germany and to Infinite Orbits’ HQ in Toulouse and other European locations.
